I find it is a lot easier to wrap them all, so they can be stacked for more wrapping space. Then go back and finish them. -- (edited)

One year I had two gifts that the dimensions were identical and had to open one to see which was which. That was when I decided to mark them as I go.
In addition, I sometimes wait until I get to my destination (mom's house, SIL's house) to put them on so they don;t get smashed or knocked off in transit.
