I used to go all out. Before paper started including grids on the back I used a t-square. I finally realized that I was doing it more for me than -- (edited)

... the recipients. And as time has got shorter I have simplified.
Looking back, it started during the time when the cash value of the gifts was lower so I compensated a bit.
