Great film trivia question. When was the last year that the top three films in terms of box office failed to spawn a sequel, remake or franchise?

This year is unique because the top three films were neither sequels nor remakes for the first time since 2001.

Barbie
Super Mario Brothers (this feels like a bit of a stretch since it isn’t a remake other than the title/topic)

But in 2001 it was Sorcerers Stone, Fellowship of the Ring and Monsters Inc and since then it’s been all franchises.

So how far back do you have to go to get the top three being standalone films?
