I did something similar this year in our hallway. It collapsed under the weight of the cards (just strung from end to end across the wall)

I may need to reinforce it next year

I also removed a chunk of paint removing one of the command strips. At least this resulted in me referencing the website I found for our home builders that shows all the paint colors used when the house was built. I have ordered free samples and will be able to hopefully match it and order some touch up paint as this isn't the first nick/scratch we've ended up with on the paint
