I'm confused by this -- the Mariners have traded Robbie Ray to the Giants for Mitch Haniger and Anthony Desclafani

so they gave up the best player (when not hurt) for more salary when they are having issues with their tv partner?

My looking around says that the Giants sent them 29-31mil in salary for 2024; while Ray makes 24mil.
