They used the EPA methods for estimating mileage which aren't as realistic as they could be.

They never exceed 60mph on highways for example.

The interesting thing, to me, is that EPA estimates have always overestimated mileage even for ICE vehicles, but it is much more noticeable on EVs because they show estimated range not "how much gas is left in the tank"
