JD, Jetblue's plan was to buy Spirits planes and people and then stop operating them as an ultra low cost carrier, turning them in Jetblue style planes. -- (edited)

Internal Jetblue documents brought up at the trial apparently showed that Jetblue believed they could raise Spirit fares by 40%.

On the flip side, Spirit is losing money and could go bankrupt. Not necessarily a reason to allow a merger, but it's not an impossibility that Spirit could go under.

I don't see really anything in the Alaska-Hawaiian merger for DOJ to try and block but what do I kow.
