Driving from Pittsburgh to Rochester, NY in a RWD '86 Mustang convertible before Christmas back in the early 90's. Tried to beat a storm at night

and didn't.
Hit whiteout conditions after leaving Buffalo. Spun off the road and had idea where the road was anymore as it was all just a field of white. Waited until we saw a semi drive by and was able to get on the road and in it's tracks. Drove the hour or so to Rochester with my head out the window so I could follow the tracks.
Made it off the Thruway and pulled into a parking lot just as I ran out of gas. Called my brother from a payphone and got him to bring gas so I could make it the rest of the way to my father's house
