That time work waited to long to close and I offered to give an employee a ride home.

I think we were caught off guard by how bad it was. Lots of snow, but I think the bigger problem was that it turned to ice. They closed the office and seemingly so did everyone around the same time so traffic was a cluster.
I wouldn't have had a problem, but I was a supervisor and didn't feel like I could leave until all the employees in our department had left. One younger woman didn't want to drive in the weather so I waited with her. Her dad was coming to pick her up.
He was coming from what would have normally been a 20-25 minutes drive. They would occasionally touch base and after 2-1/2 hours he had progressed 5 miles. The main interstate between work and there was closed in both directions.
At that point I said I would just take her. With the main interstate closed I didn't know how to get there so she was directing me on the back roads. My car was doing pretty well, but we would get so far before we'd get to an intersection that had a truck that had spun out and gotten stuck completely blocking an intersection in all directions. We'd have to turn around and find a different way.
Eventually her boyfriend called and said that the Amazon facility where he was working was closing early too. That was closer so we changed plans to take her there. Using Waze we finally found a route that worked but it was a little mountainy. Going slow we eventually made it.
Then I had to get home so I had to go back through the mountainy roads. I was sliding a lot, but I only had one incident. I started to slide going down hill. I was able to direct myself into a snow bank a little off the side of the road before I got going too fast. I was thinking that I might be stuck there, but I was able to get out of it without too much difficulty.
From there I was able to find my way to the interstate above where it was closed and it was a pretty straightforward snow drive from there to home.
