Paths, roads, and parking lots on campus just aren't getting cleared - or at least not getting cleared properly. I posted pictures on Instagram. They shovel and plow with their little tractors, but they're just compacting the snow and slush and turning to snow. No gravel, sand, or salt means that the very gradual slope leading to my building (you wouldn't even think there's an incline) which had been shoveled was now slick and dangerous.
Around town, there's been no chance to plow until yesterday since it was pretty much a foot of rock solid ice until then. Now the city and county are falling into the same trap, plowing but not to bare pavement or not sanding/salting after they do it, so in many cases, every bit of snow left behind has been compacted into little mounds of ice. It's like driving on cobblestones.
The rain continues, which means things are melting, but they're not clearing the drainage and gutters, so there's lakes everywhere.
All that being said, it seems pretty certain everyone's determined to go into school/work tomorrow. We've fucking had enough.
