In response to "ST What are you reading? -- nm" by Beaker 🍻

I just finished “better hate than never” by chloe liese. I wanted something lighter, it’s chick-lit-y, but it had some terribly laughable (spoilers)

inclusions. like put each thing on a piece of paper in a hat and just pull out a few, please.

it’s great that more diversity and reality (to a point) have been increasing for these books; but neurodivergence, a chronic condition, dude being very sexually active but the woman having virginity and demisexuality (both shared only after a, um, traditional-type encounter), reaction to (unnamed but obvious) world events, unexpected period on sheets, a sibling-type relationship that wasn’t, reference to side characters having various conditions, and more were a lot!

also no explanation for how the female main character survived as some kind of freelance world traveler and photographer with almost no money when she came home but the expectation she’d leave again soon. bugs the heck out of me when there must have been some magical funding that wasn’t given. 🙄
