I just have the 3 I've had for years. A Citi Aadvantage card that we got for the airmiles. At some point Citi offered an associated Amex card which

I accepted because Costco had just switched from Discover. Then Citi had a falling out with Amex and converted it to MC. So now I have two pretty much identical cards. I'd cancel one but the newer one pays double points for groceries and the older one has the highest limit and is over 25 years old.
The 3rd card is a Wells Fargo Visa Cash Back, associated with my checking account and useful for Costco now they've switched again. Also use it for reimbursable expenses.
