The movie Reacher was smart and actually seemed like an investigator. Cruise's dialogue sounded like he learned from experience.
TV Reacher sounds like he learned from the last wikipedia article he read. He has the same issue as Batman: I keep hearing that these guys are supposed to be the greatest detectives in the world, but then they keep getting depicted as brawlers. If TV Reacher had the same build as Finlay instead of The Terminator, he'd never survive his first encounter with the bad guys.
Movie Reacher was a wanderer with a zen philosophy. TV Reacher seems like he doesn't know why he wanders and is constantly looking for a reason to get involved so he can kill someone. "I *am* a first person shooter" pretty much says it all.
But as with S1, the supporting cast makes the show.
