Disagree. Half the fans didn't know the original. Plus, Combs fanbase is slightly more progressive than, say, Jason Aldean's.

And those fans don't care about the writer, they just like the song.
To me it doesn't compare to when Morgan Wallen covered, and had a hit with, notorious lefty (and my guy) Jason Isbell's "Cover Me Up." Both fan bases didn't know how to process it and there was a lot of chatter about if one side should support the other.

Ultimately, like "Fast Car", it's a really good song done well by both artists.
