There is some contradictions in who was invited and the coin toss -- (edited)

The original story was that Big Bopper asked for the seat cause like Ritchie he was sick and Waylon gave up his seat. Dion said he won the coin toss but due to the cost of the charter he said that at the time that was rent money so he let Ritchie fly. He also states Waylon was never part of the group that Buddy originally asked.
