Yeah, but he retained the ability to opt-out and get a 2nd huge contract if he's legitimately as good as he seems.

The Royals have like 60mil in bad deals (Seth Lugo is making 15mil / Sal Perez is at 20mil / another guy at 15mil...)
He'll get 25mil a year and they can build more around him once those contacts age off.
