New? It's been going on for years. We select our place in downtown LV based on who doesn't charge.

There was the Golden Nugget that we went to for like a decade even though it got progressively harder to find free tables but then the Resort sold off March Madness to a promoter that turned it all paid.
A move that even the in-house book was unhappy with as even they were frozen out of taking care of their customers.
Luckily Downtown Vegas hasn't reached critical mass so there's still more places to watch to the games than there are paying customers so there's still places that set up a bunch of TVs in meeting rooms and see the benefit in having added people around their places
