I mean, seriously? You're arguing that the drafters of the 14th Amendment intentionally kept the word "President" out of the text? They thought the offices of Vice President, Members of Congress, and frickin' Presidential electors were so important that we need to ban insurrectionists from those positions, but not the President of the United States overall?
They can try to argue that Trump hasn't been convicted of crimes against insurrection, but the Colorado Supreme Court still relied on a trial court ruling and analysis. And an appellate court review. These are judicial rulings based on a thorough review of the evidence and the law.
Is SCOTUS really going to say that only criminal law matters here? That it is unconstitutional for a state supreme court to rule on its own election laws in light of the 14th Amendment?
God I hope not.
