it wasn’t *all* made up - as the article says, he did have scoops and some blind items have matched with subsequent news stories, etc. I used to look

at blind items reveals every so often, the only gossipy thing I’ve sought out in any kind of regular way, and the positive ones were always my faves; but his site turning into an ad-filled mess was a big turnoff.
my guess is that the real story is somewhere in between his and hers, but him being gross after outing so many celebs for being so is extra icky. ugh.
