I attended a "Daddy Boot Camp" parenting class on Saturday.

It was MUCH cooler than I had anticipated. For some reason, I had cynically/pessimistically assumed this would be a class full of court-ordered deadbeat dads or other weirdos from the fringes of society.

But it was great. The 'instructor' was a Professor of Early Childhood Development at the local university, and the two other attendees were an attorney and another professor (computer engineering) from UAA.

There wasn't any mindless reading from workbooks or handouts, it was all just sharing stories and advice (main advice: take all parenting advice with a grain of salt!), and then a couple of former class attendees showed up with their babies so we could practice holding and feeding them.

All in all, a pretty good time. Learned lots of great stuff about dealing with the baby, and especially about dealing with mom!
