Tax Drama!

I discovered where I'm supposed to declare my foreign pension income. TurboTax has worksheets for Canadian retirement plans even though there's no official IRS form for this. (The HR Block software doesn't.) It then adds the income to your 1040 in the right box. So while I was getting a big credit from the IRS for having paid taxes in another country, I took a hit for a substantially higher income (for having closed out a Canadian retirement fund).

*BUT* in trying to reconcile the differences between TurboTax and the HR Block software, I discovered that I'd been filing incorrectly - as "single" rather than "head of household" for *YEARS*. I can refile for up to 3 years back. The rest is tough luck. It's substantial (and a considerable mistake!) so I'm gonna refile. Sounds like fun! Let's see if I get audited.
