If there's one bit of advice I would tell my nieces and nephew it would be to set up multiple siloed accounts

As a hedge against your information being sold or stolen, and if just for saving yourself the spam headache:
- banking/credit logins
- any other purchasing
- any other mailing lists/logins
- friends only
and extra phone numbers to boot, so that your favorite number is always only for family/friends and never touches the corporate landscape.
