there's a couple ways to look at it. for LA, pilot season = work for all, even though it's an inefficient way of picking shows to greenlight to series
|
but even at the level of pure efficiency, i don't think straight-to-series orders succeed with any greater frequency than shows that get picked up off a pilot. because nobody ever knows what's going to connect with mass audiences, despite all their best efforts to predict it with Teh Algorithm or Analytics or whatever bullshit they tell themselves
