In response to "i'm sorry to hear that. was she able to enjoy your vacation? -- nm" by prayformojo 🐵

she did, but i think she was a little frustrated at not being able to do what she is used to doing.

walking was very slow, and she needed lots of breaks.
So it was nice, but we didn't DO a lot, you know?'

we had a couple sets of those hiking walking sticks and she started using one when she was with us for a few weeks at Christmas and really felt better with it, so we gave her a set. That was super helpful, but she fell when she was taking her cat for a walk in her cat-stroller (yes, my mother is that octogenarian with electric blue streaks in her hair pushing her giant cat around in a hot pink cat stroller.) Luckily (?) she fell right in front of her retirement home so they saw and ran out and called an ambulance right away.
