ensure it also worked at superchargers as well (those that are available to peasants who do not drive muskcars -- I know that currently these chargers are few and far between but availability will grow in the coming years).

I would prefer not to buy tesla branded for obvious reasons. the question is: will all available tesla adapters be able to charge at higher speeds? or must I buy a special one to future proof myself?
