Depends how it serves the character and the story. In this case I’d say bad - Blackthorne is supposed to be a level-headed guy with the emotional

skills to survive in a land where everyone sees him as a barbarian, even if he’s on a steep learning curve. A samurai villain drama queen chewing the scenery would be a different story.
