it's supposedly not easy if you're not panicked due to water pressure and such. I think they say you're supposed to let the pressure equalize to do that...which is not exactly something people rush to willingly do --- "Hey, keep your wits about you and then wait till you're close to drowning...then be coherently executing this physical action."
