I read that as of today something like 60 had dropped out. Many at the last minute which is not great. At the same time, I saw no protests

or anything, but it was an ongoing issue. At the same time, while you were around the area it wasn't anything you noticed. Mostly just among the musicians it was constantly being discussed. Then the moron governor got involved and said he was going to ban any artists that backed out from coming to Texas. At that point even SXSW issued a statement saying "don't be ridiculous. They're free to express their opinion and no hard feelings (though I doubt they would ever book those people again given they headaches they caused).
