Spencer Tracy delivers a giant computer to a research department, where Katharine Hepburn and her researchers regularly answer phone called questions about anything and everything and look it up from the books on their shelves.
After inputting all the knowledge into the computer by cards, it's intended to save the workers time by answering any question in an instant. Someone uses a typewriter to enter a prompt, like a request for a quote from Shakespeare, or what was on a certain page of an old newspaper from a specific date, or how much damage a certain beetle caused the environment in a previous year (answered in this clip)
