I get why people think Jackson Holliday was shockingly a preseason cut but the #'s support it.

he struck out 15 times in 45 at-bats --- with 3 walks.
so what if he batted .311 -- that's an unsustainable average with that # of strikeouts.
14 hits out of 28 balls in play (45 ab's - 15k's - 2 hr's)...that's an unsustainable BABIP by a metric ton.
If you drop him down to a .300 BABIP (rough average), he would have only 9 hits...and be hitting .200.
20yrs old, a dozen games at AAA...give him time to get used to top-tier pitching.
Isn't like there was no shortage of killing-the-ball young guys in spring training.
that you likely get an extra year of control is just a bonus.
