Zaslav is John Malone’s man. Malone owns a large stake of WBD, and so does Zas. It would be hard for someone to secure a large enough stake in WBD to make waves, even though the non-Malone, non-Zas stockholders surely wish things were going the other way (to be fair, I’m sure Malone and Zas wished the stock was going the other way, too). There has been shareholder lawsuits related to a number of different scenarios, but WBD has been able to largely fend them off.
I do wonder why Malone wouldn’t drop kick Zas (Malone is an activist investor himself, at times). Maybe he’s stubborn. I have some conspiracy theories but I don’t see how “losing billions of dollars” makes sense.
