In response to "Paraphrasing something from 3 Body problem that stuck with me: as a species we've had agriculture for 600 generations, we've been post-industrial for " by rollo

Something I loved about that (spoilers)

They face a dilemma in creating a balance between the alien invaders and humanity.

If the aliens have tech far beyond our capabilities, we cannot defend ourselves.

Conversely, showing the aliens believe we are evolving too rapidly making them seem like less a threat.

The story solved that problem by giving them generations of technological advances, while showing a plausible reason why we're pacing better. Their society must reset every time a cataclysm occurs.

So, they're far ahead but know we'd catch up by the time they arrived...unless they mucked with our science.

That's well-considered all around.
