Keep in mind the same people were behind both actions, and more along with them. Let’s not pretend this one thread was ever a legitimate argument that could have been won on the merits, as that was never their intent.
And for the sake of chronological accuracy, the riot happened after they had already started voting to certify states’ votes, specifically while the joint session had adjourned to consider the objection to Arizona’s electoral votes being counted.
