Suggestions sought for the NorthWest area of the US

Jennilyn and I am going to the Seattle/Portland area the first 2 weeks of August this year, specifically to spend an early weekend in August in the Oregon Dark Sky sanctuary area to see the Perseid meteor shower.

My sister is in the Seattle area, and we’re also planning to go to Crater lake in Oregon. Any other suggestions? Or good recommendations on places to rent a car for 2 weeks?

And yes, we are also planning to go to Voodoo donuts. Possible more than once.
