they also know that. oil is always going to be in use - we're not getting electric tanker and container ships any time soon, airlines are not

switching to electric (with a few short-flight exceptions)...but they also want to own the future. people like EVs, batteries are useful - they'll sell those too.
it's not like you can only have one or the other.
