The promise of streaming was that you got paid up front regardless of degree of success, but then the studios wouldn’t pay out residuals. I fear the studios feel that they don’t have to pay up front any more because the new contract requires some residuals, but it’s certainly not to the same degree as in broadcast or theatrical.
