I had an absolutely wonderful time in DC! The sites were amazing, the food was fantastic and just a lovely city to walk around. -- (edited)

We didn't have the best weather but thankfully Saturday was beautiful for our busiest day.
The African American History museum was phenomenal though quite a heavy experience at times. The Hirhshorn Museum was a nice modern art museum that I thoroughly enjoyed. Sea, Air & Space was a lot of fun though it's a bit disappointing the museum with the space shuttle and other large exhibits is not there but at a different museum out near Dulles which is only accessible by car.
We had a great dinner at a steak restaurant on Saturday night and then did a lovely evening walk around the mall. The monuments are all lit up beautifully and were wonderful to see at night. One disappointing thing was they're doing construction on the Lincoln Memorial so there was a lot blocking the stairs and the inside/downstairs was closed. We got to walk up and see the statue which was nice.
Overall we had a fantastic trip and loved the city. The people we interacted with were rather nice and where we stayed was quiet. We were in the Navy Yard which looks like it was developed recently with lots of new looking apartment and office buildings. There's a very nice area around the river with a nice walking path and some restaurants. We definitely overspent on the hotel but it was a very nice room with a balcony so we were quite happy.
