The numbers are pretty clear -- 3rd time through the rotation is murder on most pitchers.

the margin between a 96 win Atlanta team and a 95 win Yankees team is basically nil in a 7 game series.
The old days aren't coming back, because pitchers and teams are okay with players losing 16 months for the benefit of 100mph with movement.
