Heh. As a tangent I remember reading an article how the advent of coffee in Europe was one of the driving forces of the enlightenment -- (edited)

As safe drinking water wasn’t exactly a thing yet, you needed something that had been boiled, and prior to coffee the most prevalent beverage for that was beer.
