I just joined a running group that run cross country. I haven’t ran anywhere yet with them but all their upcoming runs are 10 and 20km in length.

I’m a beginner, like I’m fit enough, but just want to run 2 or 3 km races until I get used to it. So they added me to the WhatsApp group and I’ve been getting their largely bullshit messages the last few days about is an upcoming race on a Saturday or a Sunday. It took at least 20 messages back and forth to sort that one out. I wonder how many members they’ve lost running off the trail and if they’ve ever been found. So I just enquired is there any races around 2/3km in length. And one guy with a profile photo of a medal in his mouth that says 25k winner remarks “Did somebody say VK? *laughing emoji*”
Like he had to make a laugh about it. I go “I guess that’s a no”.
Then someone replied that there’s a 4km loop coming up in a few weeks.
I said thank you.
No wonder people feel intimidated going to gyms etc for the first time. I’m going to trip that other bollix if I ever come across him out running.
