Some thoughts…

Nothing about going back and compensating past players, or reversing previous penalties. I don’t think anyone was asking for that… yet. But we’ll see.

Ultimately, I wonder if what’s going to happen is that colleges will spin-off their teams or entire athletic departments into separate entities associated with the schools in name only. Once a team is independent of the school, they are not bound by the NCAA or even federal rules, like Title IX. Of course, a school won’t want to give up a team if there’s profit in that, but they can always have an ownership stake in the team, in the same way colleges can invest their endowments in stock, but some states have rules about how public universities - which are essentially government entities - can’t own private corporations. We’d have to see how this plays out.
