May 16, 2024 Mountain Home, ID– The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes of the Duck Valley Reservation have urged the Biden administration and Idaho Governor to reject an Indian gaming project being advanced by the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes on lands within the ancestral territory of the Shoshone-Paiute People.
Shoshone-Bannock proposes to build a 154-acre destination resort and its fourth tribal casino, in the Boise, Idaho suburb of Mountain Home, which constitutes Shoshone-Paiute ancestral homelands. The project sits 200 miles from Shoshone-Bannock’s headquarters in Fort Hall, Idaho.
Shoshone-Bannock recently filed an application for approval from the U.S. Department of the Interior and Governor of Idaho to build the facility."

I'm wondering if this is an attempt by the Paiute to get a cut of the Bannock's action.
Also I think its cute we're a suburb even though we are 45 miles away.
A lot of people locally are "No. There will be traffic, gambling, prostitution, and other crimes"
The right people are thinking "What can we get for the city and city government in exchange for city water/sewer, first responder services, etc?"
Me, I'm thinking "I want a quality restaurant with seafood, a movie theater, a bowling alley, a horse track, and putt putt"
