Yeah, this was my problem when getting a dethatcher. SunJoe seems to be the right balance of good and cheap. The other one I bought was too weak

and the little bit I tried to save to get it wasn't worth it but at least I was able to return it

Luckily my neighbor has a sunjoe with a scarifier and dethatcher that he said he would let me borrow. -- nm
