our higher power windows machines are all surface laptops. we all used to use dongles to connect to external monitors but

over the course of a week or so, all of our dongles stopped working and replacements did nothing. there's some chatter on the internet that the machines got a software update that makes them only work with certain docks. I have four dell docks at home and only one works. I needed a spare dock for downstairs and new they were like $200, so I bought one used for far less, but, as you see, no HDMI.
super annoying as you say. what dock doesn't have HDMI?
