My boss comes out of the managers meeting and approaches me. “I have to ask you something, and I’m afraid to ask, because of what it means.”

There’s a software tool we use, but we don’t administer it. There’s a feature in the tool that’s turned off, but everyone wants turned on; not just us, but all kinds of users across the institution. We’ve heard that those who administer the tool have made motion in the right direction to have it enabled. To turn on this feature, you have to write a proposal, submit it to the right departments, have it reviewed, and approved, and then you can toggle the setting. There are certainly steps, but the process is pretty straight forward, well known, and rapid.
The ask? Find out where we are in the process and… you know.
The implication is that I’m the motherfucker you ask when you want to rattle some cages and get shit done.
