In response to "It made less than $740k at the box office b/c people know it's on PVOD/know it's going to video after like 3 weeks. How do you not understand this?" by MDH

No, it made $740k because that's the standard rate of progression for a film that earned so little last weekend.

"Everyone" isn't calling this out because it's such a dumb thought it makes my teeth hurt.

You were doing this with Challengers last weekend, and I worried you'd suffered a concussion. That film earned the studio $1.4 million last weekend, which is less than $500k per day. And you were saying it shouldn't be available on digital yet. They made more on it on digital on Tuesday than they probably had on any of the last 14 days in theaters.

You're an accountant, for God's sake. Which is better, money now or money later? It's like the basic rule of capitalism you must violate to apply your argument successfully.

You just want to live in the before times, which is totally your choice. But the logic here isn't in dispute. After a film loses momentum in theaters, it needs to be on digital so that it keeps earning money for the investor.
