You all know my struggles with chocolate chip cookies, of course.

The analogy I touched upon was how Cookie Crisp cereal was once great, but then General Mills reformulated it, and then it sucked. To put an ironic twist on it, Post then released Chips Ahoy! cereal (I know! RIGHT?!) and it was great! But it was very niche and never really got any traction and evidently grocery stores stopped carrying it. I assumed it had been discontinued.

Then last week I found my Walmart stocked Chips Ahoy! cereal! Now, I was cautious. Because, of course, a reformulation of Chips Ahoy! cookies has ruined chocolate chip cookies for me, forever. But it’s not like the cereal was ever like the cookies. It basically just used the brand and nothing else. And, indeed! The Chips Ahoy! cereal is still like I remembered it (and just like the classic Cookie Crisp which no longer exists).

Now I wondered if this was just another case of my Walmart stocking groceries that aren’t stocked by other groceries in the area (one example is how my Walmart has Tim Hortons coffee pods and grounds). Alas, no, I see the box says “Limited Edition” so it seems likely that I may see the Chips Ahoy! cereal at other groceries soon, but unless there’s a sudden surge in popularity, I don’t expect it’ll be around for long.

Unless, of course, Slackertalk undertakes a campaign to make Chips Ahoy! cereal the most popular cereal in the world! And then Post will have no choice but to keep it on store shelves!
