This may be the best option yet.

Still unlikely, but it’s the best idea I’ve heard. My parents are not very mobile so if they were to join us in Paris, for instance, it’s not like they’d be coming with us to the Louvre or the Eiffel Tower.
As an example, the last time my parents got this idea in their head a few years back, I figured I’d meet them in Spain for a couple of days, then visit some other places on my own. But they insisted that they would come with me. Traveling with my parents means walking a block, then finding a place to sit down for a break. In Seville, I’d get them settled into a restaurant with my brother, then take off to explore. As much as traveling alone is unappealing to me, traveling the narrow streets of Seville and exploring on my own was wonderful. But it irritated my parents that I’d rather go exploring than sit with them in a restaurant. So, in short, if my parents joined us in Paris, we’d be burning those days in Paris.
