This happened in Canada (which is the point of the article, of course) and in the U.S. after Obama’s Blue Wave. The conversatives always come back.

They do it moving away from the center and pandering to extremism. The difference in the UK is they pandered first, then got crushed. So I don’t know if there’s any more pandering to be done. They may *gasp* have to move to the center.
