Daily Myth for June 11

In the verdant forests of ancient Slovenia, there lived a mysterious creature known as the Zlatorog, or the Goldenhorn. The Zlatorog was a majestic white chamois with golden antlers, which were said to hold magical powers. According to legend, the creature lived on Mount Triglav, the highest peak in Slovenia, and guarded the hidden treasures of the mountain.

One day, a young and ambitious hunter from the nearby valley heard tales of the Zlatorog and its wondrous antlers. Possessed by greed, he set out to locate and capture the mystical creature. After days of relentless pursuit, he finally found the Zlatorog grazing peacefully on a lush meadow high in the mountains.

Without hesitation, the hunter aimed his weapon and wounded the Zlatorog. As the creature bled, a miracle occurred: wherever its blood touched the ground, beautiful healing flowers, known as Triglav Roses, instantly bloomed. The Zlatorog ate these magical flowers and was instantly healed, its strength renewed tenfold.

Enraged and now imbued with extraordinary power, the Zlatorog charged at the hunter. With a mighty leap, the creature thrust its golden antlers into the earth, carving a path through the rocks. The ground beneath the hunter's feet crumbled, and he plummeted into the chasm below. The Zlatorog, having defeated its assailant, disappeared into the depths of Mount Triglav, never to be seen again.

Locals say that the Zlatorog still roams the hidden valleys and peaks of the mountains, forever guarding its secrets and treasures. And, to this day, the magical Triglav Roses bloom on the rocky slopes, a reminder of the powerful legend of the Goldenhorn.
